Believe it or not, when I was a kid I loved going to the dentist. Perhaps this is because I had very little actual dental work done. I was fascinated by the 3D models of gums and teeth sitting on the edge of the reception desk. The staff always greeted me with a warm, healthy smile.

As I grew older, the idea of working as a dental hygienist or dentist always appealed to me. I enjoy taking care of people. In fact, I’ve been told many times I need to look after myself more. However, as a mother, wife and entrepreneur, I am most fulfilled when tending to the needs of others.

When I was 18, I took advantage of the opportunity to explore the dental industry. I started working as a dental assistant and went on to study the practice at George Brown College. I embraced the chance to nurture patients, but I also enjoyed driving results for the dental practice as a whole.

From Dental Assistant to Dental Entrepreneur

Now, with 25 years of industry experience under my belt, I can say I have experienced nearly every level of the dental practice, from front to back. Along the way I’ve noticed a need in the industry and I decided to build Hire Personnel Solutions to fill that void.

Dentists are extremely skilled and knowledgeable practitioners. They are very good at what they do. But when you’re busy running a dental practice, when you’re doing the clinical work, you are working with your eyes down, hands in mouth, all hours of the day. There’s no down time. You’re treating patients; you’re driving revenue. This leaves very little room for you to focus on the business side of your practice.

Where are dentists supposed to find the time to hire and train staff, ensuring the right team members are in the right positions? How do you guarantee the office manager actually understands the operational factors of the business? Or that the front desk is taking initiative and completing the tasks necessary for driving growth?

My passion is to play a role in helping a dental practice come together. I enjoy coaching staff and helping the team recognize opportunities and improvements they didn’t see before. At the end of the day, my job is to help drive results; it’s to make the dentist’s job easier; it’s to make my clients happy.
